I´m trying to decide which system is more suitable for me, and after some evaluations the two final options are:

Venture Wings with a accurate copy of Transplate will be the final decision if I look only to the price. My doubt: I´ve read in this forum that the the lift of the Venture Wings isn´t really 30 pounds, so that you can find some problems at depth if you use lots of neoprene. In winter I use 7mm semidry with a 3mm vest, 12 pounds on my belt, 15 l. tank and often dive 130-150ft.

DSS Single Tank Rig looks like the best option if you listen to this forum. As long as the wing looks too long, I´ve two questions, any problem with the belt? and most important, does it raise the botton of the tank?.

Excuse for my english and thanks a lot.

Welcome to the board. Don't worry about your english we can understand you. If you dive in cold water and need a lot of weight then you might want to go with a higher lift wing. If you are diving single tanks a 36lb wing will probably do it or a 45 if you want the extra capacity. If your wreck diving and want to pull up some goodies than maybe a 45 is better for you. There are lots of backplate options out there. Don't get caught up in all of the jive you read on this forum. The people that post the most are constantly promoting their own equipment sales. Do your homework and research before you buy, its half the fun.

The least expensive single tank rig I know of is the jet harness plate and wing. I have one and it works well for singles. It's a flat plate, so doubles are not possible. The wing is practially identical to the dive-rite travel wing, and the wing fastens to the plate with the cam straps only. The wing is pretty small; 30 lbs max lift so it might not be enough for you. For me it's fine, although I have never used more than 4 lbs on the waist belt, 3mm suit.

I have no regrets buying this set up as it only costs about $260 for plate/wing/harness/cam straps which is quite a bit less than most other options. But, it is less versatile, and I have a feeling his prices have gone up. People love the DSS stuff; there's an ongoing thread about the wing which might answer your questions. Users of halcyon, oxycheq, and fredT's plates are usually very happy as well, so I suspect that whatever you get will work really well.

Here is a link to the thread where I asked a similar question.

Lots of great information there.
Thanks to everyone who contributed...

I think I have some problems to make me understand, the question isn´t the money (well of course it´s important, but not the clue of the decission). The main thing is that I´ve a doubt with Venture´s capacity (now I can´t find the posts where I saw that).

Actually I dive with a Zeagle Ranger and I don´t need those 44 pounds. I have no problems with my ballast, with 7+3mm (semidry + vest) I put 12 pounds on my belt, and I never use more than a half of the Ranger´s lift capacity to compensate the weight of the air in the tank and neoprene´s compression in my limit of 130-150 fts. I reckon over 8 pounds of air in the tank and no more than 14 pounds due to neoprene´s compression. So that, usally I don´t need more then 20-22 pounds of lift, let´s put another 40% for security and 30 pounds will be enough for my diving. Has Venture Wings that capacity?.

If Venture wings has 30 pounds there´s no point; the total rig (original Venture wings and a Transplate´s copy) cost me 350$ at the actual exchange, far less than the 560$ of the DSS (with the shipping rate). But if Venture´s capacity is not 30 pound I would choose DSS rig.

Thank you and regards.

From what I've read in the small print, most manufacturers (Don't know about DSS) say lift is within 2lbs + or - of the rated lift due to variations in the manufacturing process...

If it helps, here's a list of bp's & wings I've been collecting. http://www.kidspot.org/personal/scuba/bpwing.html

DSS does have a very good reputation on the board here - in regard to both the equipment and the representation Tobin brings the company here - imo he is the epitome of professional courtesy.

Aloha, Tim
