I'm about to buy the Canon IS 870 to start my underwater photography addiction. I don't know whether to get the Ikelite housing or the canon. Canon offers manual white balance overriding, not that I'm up to speed with that. But Ikelite offers screw on red filter which should do the same thing.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Happy diving

Don't worry about the red filter. Use the manual white balance. The filter is only good for limited depths, since the spectrum will change as you go deeper or shallower. I have many pictures that turned out red when I was too shallow and blue when I was too deep. Manual white balance takes care of that, and also allows more light to hit the sensors.
