I am leaving this Sat. the 7th for a week in Coz then following that with 8 days in Bonaire. I've got a few questions about both locations I need some help with.
Coz........ 1.Could someone please forward a link to DocV's coz survival guide, I can't seem to find it here. 2.What are your experiences using Cingular GSM cell service on island?
Bon...1. Does anyone who's been there recently know if the same Cingular GSM service will work on roaming on the island? 2. What are some reasonable solutions and/or rates for calling back to the US from Bonaire?
Thanx in advance

I looked for the thread and also couldn't come up with it. Send him a PM. Here is his profile link.http://scubaboard.com/member.php?find=lastposter&t=184620

As for the phone thing.. my first thoughts are " Leave the darn thing home" But..I know some peope just can't.

On Coz, there are Internet Cafe's that also have phone rates to the states. These are super cheap. Bonaire also has them..but I don't know updated rates.

Might be best to call your phone service and get the exact answer from them.
Have fun!

In Bonaire check in with Michael Gaynor at Chat and Browse for good rates on phone rentals and phone cards for calling back to the States.

I just returned from Cozumel on Sunday and I was able to use my Cingular phone without any problems. However I haven't seen the bill yet so I don't know what type of roaming charges I incurred

I returned from Coz in February. Cingular will work if you have one of the new GSM four band phones. Once again the newer your phone the more likely it is to work.

Looks like Cingular might work if you have a multi(European) band GSM phone.

If you're taking a laptop, most of the resorts have installed high-speed wireless recently so Skype becomes an option...
