Location
Kwajalein, Marshall Islands
Greetings!

I am a new diver from the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands (about halfway between Hawaii and Australia). I am just finishing up the Open Water course and will soon begin the Advanced Open Water course. I'm so excited!

Howdy Val!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only.

Curious as to why you picked The Sooner State for an Avatar? Are you an ol' Okie?

don

:D

Lucky you! What does a meteorologist do in the Marshall Islands? Sounds interesting.

I'll look forward to hearing about your dive adventures.

Welcome to the Board!

Welcome to the board.
I am confused. You live in the Marshall Islands but have an Okie flag for an avatar. Ok, I get it. You are happy to be away from there!

I bet they guess at the weather there just like they do here!

Wow, what a location.

Welcome, glad you found us! This is a great place to spend your SI, but watch out, it's addictive!

It's nice to meet you all! To answer your questions and clear up some confusion...

I grew up in Oklahoma, hence the flag. I was actually very reluctant to move 6,000 miles away to Kwajalein. If you want to see pictures of Kwaj, Kevin, my fiance, has a very nice website: http://www.mcgrathimages.com/Gallery/Locations/Kwajalein/

We have a two-year contract out here on Kwaj, so we want to do as much diving as we possibly can. I don't know how much we'll dive after we move back. We are definitely interested in diving the Great Lakes (Kevin is from Michigan).

As for being a meteorologist...the weather in the Marshall Islands is quite a bit different than it is in the US. The patterns are a little more difficult to interpret. Most of our forecasts are "Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers." Forecasting is pretty much a crap shoot anyway. I'll admit it!! :D Shh..don't tell anyone!
