Hi, my names Perry, and I just joined this board today while looking for information on an upcoming vacation to either Provo (Turks, not Utah) or Andros. I've been qualified for 24 years, but I am really just a vacation diver. Although I really enjoy diving and live in one of the best dive locations in the western US (Monterey), I'm not real keen on the cold water thing. (Feel free to make all the wuss jokes you want, I'll laugh at them from the warmth of land.) Thus, I generally only get to dive on a yearly vacation.

It really seems that a liveaboard is the way to go in both locations, but my wife can no longer dive (punctured/collapsed lung in an auto accident). Her fun on these vacations is sitting at the beach or pool while my 16 yr old son and I dive, so boats are not a possibility.

I've been studying trip reports about the diving on both islands, and I have some questions:

- Some trip reports from a few years talked about Caicos Adventures' quality declining back in 2008, but most of the reviews since then are very good. Are they the best, or just the biggest, so more people have dove with them? Flamingo was listed in many reports as having small trips, which my son and I like.

- On Andros, there don't seem to be many dive shops other than inclusive resorts. Does anyone know of any? Also, some implied it might be difficult to dive with them if you didn't stay there - is this the case, especially in low season (Jun/Jul)?

- One place that got many good reviews was Coral Caverns Resort, but their web site (I haven't posted enough to post the URL as a link, but it's coral caverns resort dot com) looks dead. Are they still in business?

If there's a better place to ask these questions, please let me know. It looks like a great site. I'll give you a report on our trip, wherever we decide to go.

welcome aboard
