I am new to this site and just got certified on 8/8/2008. I live in san Bernardino County, CA and am looking to find people to dive with in Catalina, CA. I have some friends that dive but they do not do cold water diving. I am so excited about diving never thought I would LOVE it like this but as dives you all know there is nothing like it. I don't think I could ever dive enough..... Well if any one has any suggestions on ow I can find people to dive with please let me know. Thank you.

Hello and WELCOME to Scuba Board and Scuba Diving! Lots of good people and advice here. Diving off of Catalina is awesome. I did a lot of diving there back in 88 when I was doing my instructor training. I'd love to come back someday.
Take care, and I hope to see a lot of posts from you as your experience and training grow.
Safe Diving,

Welcome to Scubaboard Dianna. I would suggest you post your intro again in the SoCal forum: Click here for So Cal . There are a lot of divers there that are very willing to take new divers out, and lots of scheduled dives (look at the Wrinkles dives and the Beach Crabs). also, if you read the sticky's at the top there is a wealth of information about our local diving.

Diving Catalina is easier than most SoCal locations. The dive park has stairs leading right into the water... how many shore dive locations offer such convenience? And, of course, you can take Scuba Luv's King Neptune or CDS's dive boat out to other Catalina dive sites.

Welcome to the board! Definitely check out the SoCal group mentioned by the others. Hubby and I flew out from Ohio to dive Catalina during the November Wrinkles event last year. What a great group of people! Get out there and mingle with them, they will show you a good time!

For a good time call ...

Heh :D
but seriously, you wont find a more dive conscientious, helpful, accommodating, or friendly group ... all the SB'ers that I've met and dived with have been.

Catalina is one of my favorite dives
Just post when you'll be coming over in the SoCal forum and you'll get replies
and Welcome to th' Board, Dianna :D

There's always people from SB going to Catalina. I mostly beach dive off Laguna Beach or Palos Verdes, but go to Catalina every once in a while.

Haven't been in a couple months.. PM if you wanna plan a trip.

Welcome to the board.
As has been said, drop down to the United States California Kelp Divers SOCAL section and post there for local divers. I go to Catalina occasionally. Cheaper to take a dive boat. Dive boat, 3 dives, 2 fills, lunch and a snack for $110-130. Catalina by ferry $60 plus parking ($10) plus fills and tank rental (if you did not schlep your tank over) $15, plus foot $25 and you only get one dive site, albeit a good one. But still a day on Catalina in Avalon is not bad. Better if I can hitch a ride on someones sail boat.
