Hi Everyone!

Completed my OW cert. beginning of this month and I'm leaving for the FL Keys in...2.5 hours for more diving (AOW - the tour dives and some others thrown in)!

I lurked for quite awhile soaking up as much as I could -- generally speaking, most of the opinions here are sound! ;)

Unfortunately, after much reading here, I'm not so positive I want to pursue Rescue or Dive Master (PADI)...money isn't an issue (other than the reason below) and I don't want to feel over certified and under experienced. Actually, I get the impression that if you have the money, anyone can be a DM -- not so appealing. Although, I would like to help out my LDS with students in the pool or assisting their OW training as a guide (I used to be a middle school teacher, so that's where that comes from.)

But mainly, I just want to go diving!

Welcome to the board and welcome to the Florida Conch Divers.... There is nothing wrong with advancing your diving knowledge. Just practice each level until you are ready for the next. Don't just jump from one to another with out giving yourself time to practice and soak in what you just learned.

Anyways, make sure you check out the Florida Conch Divers forum..

:azvatar: Hello there Andy, My name is Matt and I wanted to welcome you to the community. I think it’s the best board on the internet for divers. The people on here make it a really friendly place. It’s a great place to see what’s going on with divers. Just wanted to make you feel welcome! If you’d like to chat, please PM me.

Take care and Safe Diving.

No experience needed and it feels great!

Murph gave you good advise, and El Laurens good links. Yeah, you can make DM in 50 dives, and I am sure it helps. I'd rather follow a diver with 100 ocean dives, tho, than a quary trained DM. It takes some of both...
