Hello everybody:
I'm a new diver and I'm in the plan to get my own equipment, surfing the web I found LP, and they have good deals in some stuff.
My question is, if I buy a regulator, octopus & SPG from LP, can I be capable of doing the assembly :06: , or do I need some special scubatools to do this.
I will appreciate any advice. ;)
Thanks
Yagua

When buying stuff from LP the question you should ask is 'is my warranty valid?'. Assembling the gear is not a big deal (although I advise you to just bring it to a LDS and have them check it out and put it together) but check out the warranty stuff.

LP does have great prices on stuff and I would purchase small items from them any day (hoods, clips, etc) but never life support equipment (ie. regs).

Ohyeah, Welcome to ScubaBoard! :)

Welcome to the board. The only item I ever bought from LP was a dive knife. I would assume they would assemble it for you. Don't know. Your LDS can do it but they won't be happy with you. As mentioned before, my preference for purchasing My reg., etc. would be my LDS. I also bought my computer online from Larry at Scubatoys.com. Many manufacturers don't warranty their items if you buy them online, be careful.

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

I agree with v_1matst. Go to your LDS for life support items. Trust me on this. It is better to spend to little extra money now to get the warranty and service. I was once thinking about LP, but decided to got to my LDS. It was one of the best decision I have ever mad. They have been great to me.

Welcome to the board. You'll get both sides of the LP purchases. Generally, there are some "warranty" issues that are brought up. Search the threads under LP and you'll get more info than you can read in a day.

I've never bought dive gear except from my LDS, so I can't comment. Welcome to the board, though!

Er, never tried to fix/make any of my own gear, so I won't give you advice there.

But Welcome to ScubaBoard!!

Cheers,
Jess

No! Do not assemble your own Reg, or work on it. That should be done by a Technician. But my buddy did buy a Octo-Reg at LP, and they put it together for him.

And - Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

You may want to read some threads on ScubaBoard about the pros and cons of buying online. Personally, I fall into the "support your local dive shop" camp, but you'll find valid arguements on both sides of the issue.

Don't forget to fill out your profile, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!
