Hello! I've been lurking around for the past month or so and figured I might try posting.

My husband and I finished our OW and dry suit certs at the beginning of the month and are looking forward to some local diving and learning more about the sport. We're both also looking forward to helping out with local clean ups and other environmental efforts. I'm a recovering non-profit publicity director so now that I only have ONE full time job I need to find something else to keep me busy. ;-)

irnogs, welcome to diving, and to :sblogo:!

If you ever want an experienced buddy to go out and see some local sites, feel free to drop me a PM. It's a particular pleasure for me to dive with new divers -- people were so generous to me when I started, I love to pay that forward!

Don't pass up that offer!

I had the distinct pleasure only a couple of days ago of seeing the way that Lynn and her husband go out of their way to help people in the Seattle area get going to whatever they want their next steps to be in diving.

Welcome to ScubaBoard, irnogs ...

Matt's last post isn't a blatant plug for another forum ... it's our local (Puget Sound area) online dive club. Among other things, we host "big buddy" dives where we pair new divers up with experienced divers for some fun times. I'll be hosting such a dive at Keystone Jetty on Sunday, October 24th. You and your husband are welcome to come meet a bunch of friendly local divers, and start developing a larger circle of dive buddies.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies everyone. We'll certainly be taking people up on offers to go diving. My husband and I were overwhelmed when we discovered how many wonderful sites there are around here! I'll be sure to check out the websites for the local clubs as well. It seems like there's a great community of local divers here and we look forward to being a part of it. :-)

Oh and that's a yes on pictures! I'm a bit of an enthusiast already so one of my first investments (after finishing up on the rest of the gear - it sure adds up when you're buying for two!) will be a good dslr and housing. I have my eye on the new D7000 and hope to pick that up when it's available. I already have an Oly E-300 that I bought brand new when it was released, but with how expensive housings are I'd rather upgrade before investing in that.
