Lotsa diving opps here in Pomeroy WA (NOT!). I've been diving since 1999, when I quit my job as a social worker and went back to school to become a marine biologist. One of the very few marine biologists from Missouri I'd guess. Hey, Missouri had an ocean, about 70,000 years ago! In 2000 I took a trip to the Yukatan and dove the cenotes. That was the hook. Now I'm a Full Cave Diver, having done my training, and most of my dives in the Missouri karst (read "cold"). Been working in SE Washington at one of the Snake River dams transporting salmon smolts down to the estuary. Am on my way to King Salmon Alaska to start work with the USF&W. How's the Diving in Bristol Bay? I'll have to let you know! Glad I found this forum.

:sunny Hi SalmonMan,

I would like to say Hello again and Welcome you this time to Scuba Board –One of the most informative and dedicated boards on the net. You can meet a lot of helpful people here and it’s an awesome place to get answers to your questions regarding scuba diving. That's wild you are a marine biologist, what a cool job. That sounds cool about diving the ceynotes. To me all divers are cool. Again feel free to Pm me if you need help around the board.

Take care and Safe Diving

Welcome to SB! We're glad you found us too! :crafty: Interesting job. Look forward to hearing all about it on the board. Better still, getting paid to dive.......I'd love to find a way to make that happen for me! :D

Hi,
welcome to scubaboard. You could spend all day everyday looking at this site.
Yeah, it happens now and then, it's a side effect of a dry spell. (complications resulting from extended surface interval) Can be habit forming just like diving. Probably about as close to diving as you can get without getting wet ;)

Hi there and welcome to the boards from NW Washington! Some great diving up here, if you ever make it this direction! Glad to have you on the boards, let me know if there is anything that I can help you with while your learning your way around the boards!

Have fun, and safe diving!

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

Thanks for the generous welcome. Yeah, I seem to be able to spend hours here soaking up the great stuff. Just to set the record straight, I won't get paid to dive, at least not yet. Still working on that aspect of marine biology. An awful lot is done on dry land and/or in front of a computer screen. Not even sure if anyone in King Salmon dives, or even if there's any air. No road to Anchorage, everything is by plane, which makes transport of a full tank difficult at best (considered a hazardous naterial--should've heard the results of trying to bring an oxy/acetylene set!). Might have to come up with my own compressor :D Anyone diving in Bristol Bay??? :06:

Pomeroy. I actually know where that is. The Snake River is so slow north/west of you that there might be some diving there.

But if I were you, I'd make the drive up to lake Coeur d' Alene (1.5 hours) for some diving there, lots of wrecks. PM me for a dive sometime!

It's only a 5 hour drive to Pudet Sound and some great diving. I'm here right now, writing this from the Motel. Did a night dive last night, two dives today and two more tomorrow, then back to Spokane. A three day weekend means lots of great diving.

You're isolated, but you're not out of the game!

Welcome to ScubaBoard!!
