great site you have! I've picked up a LOT of information that will really help this Newbie (2 weeks OW, Nitrox soon).

As for me, I grew up in KS, moved to TX for a great job (work at Lamar U), SINGLE :upset:, and thought for the past four years I'd never want to scuba dive since the water around here is so dirty. Well, I was invited on an offshore fishing trip, and two guys jumped off to spearfish a wreck. When we made it back, I was on the internet immediately, looking for the first available class. Needless to say, I'm hooked; but I need to find MORE DIVING BUDDIES!!

So, now I'm slowly whittling away my savings on new equipment, and can't wait to meet a lot more people around here.

... more like taking a chain saw (rather than a whittling knife) until you own the basic stuff.

SCUBA is a toy-heavy fun time!

You'll see lots of posts from us guys/gals here in the San Antonio area. Just keep an eye out....

You'll find a bunch of folks from Texas and a great lot of them are from Houston [ I don't have the placement of Lamar in my head right now - but I see Houston as SE!]

The Texas Swamp Diving Team is near the bottom of front page so the board & is a great gathering place for those affected by living inTX!

Hey there, you are local to my area. I'm in Port Arthur and spend a lot time hanging out at the dive shop in Nederland. Just finishing up my DM course with them.

There's usually a contingent of divers to be found readily in this area, just depends on what you want to do.

Before you spend too much money on that new equipment, you might get some pointers from those of us who have been around a while and avoid some of the mistakes we made.
