Hey everyone, I just found this site about a week or so ago and thought I'd sign up so this will be my first post. Me and my buddy are getting starting the open water certification on 4-13-12 at Dolphin Dive Center here in Sacramento CA and I'm pretty excited. I've read through the books and taken all the tests and watched the dvd's but I still feel like I should be learning as much as I can before the class starts. I went and bought a RDP chart so I could teach myself how to use one, since I guess these are no longer included in the class packet, even though a section in chapter 4 refers you to read the instructions for the RDP chart. I was told by one of the instructors there that it's really up to the specific instructor's discretion whether to teach how to even use one or not, due to the fact that they're not really used anymore but I feel I'd rather work my way up from the bottom and know how to use one correctly if not for any other reason than to know how. Other than that, my only complaint is I have two weeks left before my course starts and I'm out of study material. I just wanted to introduce myself here and get some feedback to see if anyone has any tips or suggestions on what to learn more about or anything I should do before I start my class. I already have plans to move on to the advanced open water and rescue diver courses once I'm done with this class and I have a couple of dives with my buddy under my belt. Then who knows. Thanks for the input.
