Hey everyone,

I found this site about a month ago, and I've learned a lot from lurking. I just got my PADI OW certification a couple weeks ago in Monterey. I'm really interested in UW Photography and spearfishing but I've got to master the basics of open water before I branch out into other directions. Another reason I'm so into scuba is hearing all your stories of traveling to exotic places... I've always been the guy that never takes a vacation, but you people are quickly changing my goals in life.

I'm slowly piecing together my gear, but as a full time (jobless) student, it’s tough. I go to school in Chico but I plan on doing most of my diving between Monterey and Fort Bragg. I like working on my car and long walks on the beach.

Welcome Brent! You will get lots of experience diving off the coast of California...it sounds like you've been bitten by the scuba bug... it is not cureable and the only way to treat the symptoms is by diving. Failure to dive can lead to unpleaseant withdrawl symptoms ;)... Scubaboard is a great activity for your surfance intervals....enjoy! :dazzler1:

Hello right back 'atcha from Southern California :369: Welcome to the board!!

Howdy Brent!

I want to join the others in welcoming you to ScubaBoard.com, and I hope you both enjoy it and find it helpful as you learn your way around here.
Just in case you missed it, do read this simple guide A beginner's guide to the ScubaBoard.Com forums by Tech Admin & team. It is pinned at the top of the Intros forum here so you can go back to at anytime.

Living where you do, you don't have to travel to dive - which I do. But then, traveling is part of the fun. So many Florida divers never try other locales. Go for it!

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:
