Welcome. While it's a drive from you, your state has some nice scuba diving -

It's a bit more advanced than 'fresh out of open water' training, but not bad. Due to depth, offshore wreck dives may be rather short, but diving with the sand tiger sharks, or on a wartime 'real' wreck of a German U-boat, hey, good times!
