Hello everyone,

My name is Ryan from Los Angeles. I've been diving for about 15 years and I'm really interested in underwater photography. My current camera is a Canon 7D in a Sea & Sea housing which I love! In a few weeks I'm headed to Guadalupe Island to photograph Great Whites, and in August I am going to Bali/Wakatobi. I am so excited and I'd love to hear any thoughts or recommendations about either location.

Also, I'm moving to Northern California in the fall and I'd love to hear about recommendations for diving in the Bay Area.

Hope to see some of you underwater :)

Ryan

For Guadalupe take a wide lens with a dome
Wouldn't take much in the way of a strobe

You would be better off with a fill light like a sola video light for soft frontal color.
I white balance on the bottom of the cage grating shooting across the grating

If
You haven't been cage diving before remember GWS won't like to come
Close to the cage if you have four aggressive diver leaning out creating a giant bubble curtain

Hang back inside until the shark gets close and if you can get the others on your team to agree on this etiquette then you will
All
Have better sucess

Finally one of the best things I have seen is the use of go pro.
We have been selling them with the
Pole extenders and so people can mount them inside the back o the cage so you will have video and or stills
I you taking the pictures of the great whites

I have been on 6 trips to Guad and it is one of the best experiences of
My
Life

Thanks for the reply on Guadalupe Island! I'm so excited for the trip, and I appreciate the advice on the SOLA light and strobes! Very helpful!

We have a group going to WAKATOBI in Oct. It is a fantastic place, you will love it!
