Hello and I just want to say Im thankful for this forum. I joined this forum specifically to try to find out more about what happened to my friend of 16 years, fellow diver and dentist, who died in a cenote in Mexico. I have read all of Wendys posts and Im glad she got a chance to explain what caliber diver Kent was. I understand that the purpose of these forums are to discuss, without emotion, the mechanics of dive accidents, so other divers can learn from any alleged mistakes that might have been made. However, I think its important to have a little background on the two divers. I think Wendys post fulfilled that premise. I am only an AOW diver (diving for 11 years). Kent certified me in Advanced. I spent more than 4 hours reading all the posts in detail to try to understand the cave lingo; snap n gaps, nondirectional markers, cookies, directional markers, etc. I definitely have a better idea of what happened in the accident, thanks to all the articulate members of ScubaBoard.com. I printed a map that somebody posted and have been trying to apply all the information from the threads to understand how these two experienced and capable cave divers died in the cenote system. I guess we may never know what happened in the final moments. I want to say that Wendy is an amazing person and I am so sorry for the unimaginable grief she must now deal with.
