Thanks for reminding me! i have 2 or 3 weeks before i start the process to get my OW. So ill have it for the beginning of the season.

I am a diver without a regular buddy and was hoping to join up with some divers at haigh or pearl this year if they don't mind a tag along. I finally made my first dives after being certified last may at Pearl. Went for a 2 tank dive in Cancun in Feb. Seen on here last summer some people posting about meeting up for dives. Do you suggest I just keep monitoring somewhere on scubaboard. Any perticular forum or post name or just search haigh like I did for this one. Thanks!

Hi,

Sure am.

We get out there quite often and are always looking fom more dive buddies.

Jim Breslin

Sounds good! Looking forward to a little bit warmer weather before hitting Haigh again (did my OW qual dives there). Will be in touch!

Pete

I'm in a similar situation as yourself (and am in Cancun right now doing some dives next week). I wonder if there's an 'Illinois' forum here on SB? Off to investigate...

You're welcomed to come join us at Haigh. The Great Lakes Wrecking Crew is a good forum for finding out what's going on in the area.

When you're ready to go, send me a pm and let me know. If I'm not free that weekend, I'm sure I will know someone who is.

Thanks for the replies! Will check out the wrecking crew.
Hey neuatomic, when you get back from Cancun, could you update here how it went and what dive shop you used. I hope to go back again and always looking for others input. I went through a little shop that was very accomodating called SCUBA Fred's. Operator is american. Was my first dive after cert.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the board and am from Illinois as well- I'm studying veterinary medicine down in Urbana. I'm a single diver without a buddy and would love to join a group at the quarry sometime! That's where I got my certification.

Welcome to the board. We'll be there plenty of times this year and you're welcomed to join us. If you're free during the weekdays there's a group of us that often goes out then...last year it was Thursdays. Saturdays work for me too if I'm not working with students.

Things get going in about four weeks - but if you're diving wet, it may be a bit colder that you like.
