Hi Justin, most of the diving around Eugene is cold water hence why I went to Grand Cayman to get certified as well as visibility. Being able to see 80-100 ft at 80+F was way more appealing. I would have your daughter contact Eugene Skin Divers their a great group of guys and gals with decades of experience. I'm new to the sport I'm actually heading over to talk with them about diving around here myself. Take care and great choice in schools for your daughter...

I think the Cayman Islands are amazing! The visibility has always been scary crystal clear when I've been there. I know this sounds cheesy, but diving and seeing such amazing beauty is a spiritual experience. You can try to describe it to others all day long, but they will never really understand unless they experience it themselves.

Thanks for the tip, I will recommend it to her. Diving in cold water and poor visibility is old hat for my daughter....that is the standard here in Northwestern Europe, visibility is usually crap until the winter when there are less bottom crawlers in the lakes and quarries and the sky is clouded over long enough for the algae blooms to diminish.

Hi I actually stopped there first and picked up some new gear and talked with them before I completed my OWD cert in GC. I really hope to connect with local divers that can point out places to dive because I grew up here and have swam in these cold waters and would like to dive more than once or twice a year in the Caribbean. Take care
I've dove a bit in Lake Woahink, OR and Mike's Beach Resort in the Hood Canal. Both have a fair amount of sunken boats and whatnot for divers to explore. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I haven't been able to explore the PNW sites much but my old AP English teacher was dive buddies with the guys at Eugene Skin Divers, which is how I know them

Agreed! I just got back last week. When I started my training it was kind of blasé. Then I dove Babylon and it changed everything. Breathtaking!
