Hello from Colorado

I'm new to ScubaBoard. Found it a couple of weeks ago. Have been looking around to familiarize myself with content. I'm amazed by the amount of information. I can already see I'll be a frequent user looking for information about destinations and dive operators, tapping into the wealth of experience of ScubaBoard's members, and hopefully being a contributor.

I'm also a complete neophyte to the world of internet bulletin boards. Am learning as I go, so please pardon any faux pas I may commit!

This is my first response on SB. Looks like an interesting site.
Where do you dive in Colorado? I was there in the early 70's while in the Air Force. My tour of duty was for 2-years at the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs. Love the area and climate. I did not scuba dive then. Hope to get out that way again for a visit. Do you have to make adjustments for diving at the higher altitude?

I live in Western Colorado. It's pretty dry here, so most diving is in reservoirs. Not too much viz, but at least it's making bubbles! The mountain lakes are cold, cold, cold. Yes, we have to adjust for altitude by using theoretical depth at altitude charts.

Don't know if you've skiied Crested Butte before, but it's awesome. Some of the best natural terrain skiing in Colorado (if you're up to it)! The town is a little funky, the restaurants great. You'll have a great time!
