New to scuba diving and new to this website. I'm also on Divebuddy.com. Basically, I have my own gear and am always up for a local dive on weekends. Overnight dives out of town will require a bit of forward planning as I take care of my mom and can't really be gone overnight unless I have a nurse check in on her.

Has anybody tried drift diving along the Salt River??

Welcome to SB!

I'm not sure drift diving is possible... maybe more like drift snorkeling. Last time I innertubed the salt we actually had to haul our butts out of the tubes and walk across some rocks.

Welcome to the 'Board, Steve! I spent a lot of time in Arizona, and a lot of time in Lake Pleasant, before moving to Florida last summer. Make sure you check out the Southwest Sand Sharks forum. That's the local Arizona forum. Also, PM booth22. He and his wife are going to start monthly dive outings at the lake and I'm sure they'll make you feel very welcome.

Right you are... we're headed back this Sunday for some diving- could you imagine, Mindy diving LP twice in January? :11:

Hey Steve. My neighbor says some guys he works with dive the lower salt all the time and come home with lots of cameras and glasses and hats and phones. There are those very shallow rapid areas but there are a lot of 6' areas and there are 15-20' areas too. I would like to go dive in some of the eddys and see what I can find. I have never dove any of the lakes or rivers here. I have only dove around San Diego and Catalina. I need to blow some bubbles soon though. Justin
