Just registered for the site and wanted to say hi. I've been looking for a scuba site that was noobie friendly ;) . I'm signed up for OW cert class starting July 5th through Kunuku Dive Shop in Alpha, NJ. (Thanks to my wonderful wife) I know a couple of folks at work who dive and have wanted to for many many years, but never took the plunge, so to speak.

I've snorkled in the Bahamas and loved it. I wish I had my C-card last month when we cruised to Bermuda! The days were overcast, but that wouldn't have mattered much underwater. Oh well, wait 'till next year. Anyway, I am really excited about learning to dive and can't wait. I won't ask any questions about equipment just yet. I've already got my starter stuff for the class. There is also a shortage of dive shops in my area (go figure) but Kunuku's prices seem to be within 15-20% of mail order and I get a 10% student discount there. The way I figure it, 5-10% will be a worthwhile investment in building a relationship with the LDS.

welcome aboard!

Welcome! I agree with your theory of building relationships with a LDS. There is a limit to loyalty-yes, but in the intrest of trying to ensure that shop is still around in a year...

Wecome again!

Welcome to the board!

Welcome aboard...enjoy your time here on ScubaBoard!

What part of the Pocono Mountains are you from--we used to go snow skiing up there quite a bit...

I'm from just south of East Stroudsburg, about 20 minutes from Blue Moutain, Jack Frost and Big Boulder. My son got me to go snow skiing last winter for the first time in 18 years!

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

That's great--I know the area well...I remember skiing Blue Mountain when was it called Little Gap. Nice area for skiing--not so great for diving...too cold for me. ;)
