Just registered for the site and wanted to say hi. I've been looking for a scuba site that was noobie friendly . I'm signed up for OW cert class starting July 5th through Kunuku Dive Shop in Alpha, NJ. (Thanks to my wonderful wife) I know a couple of folks at work who dive and have wanted to for many many years, but never took the plunge, so to speak.
I've snorkled in the Bahamas and loved it. I wish I had my C-card last month when we cruised to Bermuda! The days were overcast, but that wouldn't have mattered much underwater. Oh well, wait 'till next year. Anyway, I am really excited about learning to dive and can't wait. I won't ask any questions about equipment just yet. I've already got my starter stuff for the class. There is also a shortage of dive shops in my area (go figure) but Kunuku's prices seem to be within 15-20% of mail order and I get a 10% student discount there. The way I figure it, 5-10% will be a worthwhile investment in building a relationship with the LDS.
