Hi, folks...

I live in North Texas, and am newly certified (NAUI) and have been diving for about a month or so. I love the sport, I know I have a great deal to learn, and hope my experience here helps me do just that.

Regards,

Congratulations on your certification and welcome to the board!

Be sure to check out the New2Scuba and Basic Scuba Discussions forums - they're loaded with info for new divers.

Best wishes and safe ascents,
Grier

Mongoose is a name I have been using since I was a kid, hopping around on dialup BBSs (I honestly thought it would never get faster than 9600 baud, tops, and that ZMODEM was the ONLY way to go... ah yes, the old days).

I chose the name because the Mongoose(the *javan* mongoose, specifically) is... depite being somewhat skinny, diminuitive and not much to look at... a quick, intelligent, highly adaptive creature that can kill Cobras in a split second. Try to catch some video of them sometime...truly something to behold. They have to slow it down, like 100 times, just to see the process of it.

And also, it's one of those cool animals that people tend to overlook...which is how I felt most of the time when I was growing up.

Goofy story, I know (violins playing in background mourning over tortured,. awkward, angst-riddent teen years that everybody goes through), but it's mine.
