Hello everybody. My name is Mark, if you prefer.

I've been interested in the ocean, water, diving, scuba, etc. for as long as I can remember and I'm trying to get excited enough to actually take the plunge (financially and physically). I've always enjoyed discovering and experiencing new things. Museums, aquariums, national parks, and even petting zoos are all places that excite me because.. Well, I rarely get to feed goats, I suppose.

Science, and exploring new worlds, both without and within, interests me to no end. I couldn't imagine living an entire life without trying so many different things... foods.. experiences.. Within reasonable safety limits (I'm no daredevil :p).

The open ocean is such a fascinating place.. The freedom, the humbling new perspective on life, and the massive amounts of amazing little (and huuuge) creatures sharing this space with you. I've wanted to learn to scuba ever since I can remember (My father is actually certified, but hasn't dove in years).

I'm joining this forum to get a small feel for the general 'diving' community, and to hopefully hear some divers' passion for this sport.

There is a quote, I forget it exactly, but it simply says that is much more likely you will be deeply saddened in your later years for thing you never did, than those you did do.

Why put off diving, if it is something that you know will excite you? We do not live forever, and time is passing by.

I could not begin to express in mere written words, the excitement that you personally will feel, when it is you exploring beneath the surface of the ocean for yourself!

JUST DO IT, and now, rather than someday!

Exactly.. I know I will at some point in my life. I refuse to live my life without ever having tried it.. And the certification lasts forever and the equipment should last a good while, so there is no reason to not just do it now. I dunno, I made a thread in the 'new divers' forum about why I keep putting it off, I guess.
