Hello everyone, My name is Denis and I have been posting videos of some of my local dive in Long Island Sound. I am still working on them and making them better each time. I am trying to create awareness about The Sound and hope that these videos will encourage people to dive and dive in the sound. Also, I am trying to create some interest in diving. Here is one of our latest videos.

Really nice, Denis...! I love anything that promotes local diving. So easy to dismiss our NYC waters by people who don't know what's down there. Great narration, too...

One thing that scared me was the opening video clip. Hope you shot that with a pole camera! Don't like the idea of swimming near a moving prop... :)

Mike

lol yea that was a pole camera. That would have been a bit tricky to film by hand! Do you ever get up connecticut way to dive? The viz in the sound in not that great in the summer. This is what we get during the early spring. We are heading up to RI for some cool dives in the summer. Thanks for checking out the video too!

Gotta say, it was a lot better than I thought it would be! Haven't done the sound, although for the past two winters I have been tempted to join Captain Frank on one of his bottle dives.

Our club president was thinking of doing something out of Point Judith this year, but the closest I got to the sound was three days around Block Island last season on the John Jack.

What are the seas and the water temperatures like this time of year? Better conditions than the ocean? Most of our dives don't start until late May or June...

Mike

the viz is great right now, and the water is 44 degrees. (well it was on friday) the coldest it got was in Feb, was 36. After you face goes numb its fine. Seas are fine as long as the wind in under 20Kts. Arent you a member of the sea gypsies?

This is another favorite, its an older one but we have since improved on the production. This was a wreck off southport that Noel Voroba takes people to on charters with orbit marine. Almost a week after this video was posted a "scrap metal" diver recovered the brass heat exchanger. Its unfortunate that people melt down history like that.

Yup, I'm actually the dive chair... Are you running dives out there now?

Very nice!

Nope no chartering for me. My boat is way too small. I sat next to you during Larry's presentation on Truk Lagoon. I haven't been to a meeting in a while. I think that was the last one i went to.
