Hello... anyone been to the Cocos Keeling?

Hello,
I've just been prompted to get off the shore and participate... So here it is. I have perused this site many a time and found it honest, useful adn detailed. I am currently looking forward to a week in february in the Cocos (Keeling) Is. off the west coast of Australia... Not much about them on this site. Has anyone been there? How does it rate? Also being a relatively inexpereinced diver (50 dives) am only just getting around to thinking about buying my own equipment... where do I begin?

I haven't been there yet, but have a group trip planned for October 06 and am very much looking forward to it.

As for where to start with equipment, that's a million dollar question! Depends on your budget, where you dive, what type of diving you like to do etc - head over to our equipment areas here on Scuba Board and have a browse around. There is a lot of info to get you started and then as you have specific questions you can pop them into the appropriate forum area (bcs, regs etc) to get the fastest, best responses!
