Good tips from racerx and DocVikingo. For hawker stands, the Golden Shoe usually gets the nod over Lau Pa Sat by the lunch crowd, I think, but it might be because it's cheaper. The Shoe is too crowded for a pleasant lunch but it might be perfect for an early dinner, depending on what you want to eat. I second the recommendation for Lagoon (= East Coast Hawker Centre = Seafood Hawker Centre at East Coast), that would be my first choice for dinner. Well, unless you want to take DocVikingo's recommendation and check out the Marina Bay Sands hotel. I have not been yet, but KU DE' TA, on the roof, is getting rave reviews from friends who have been. Reservations required well in advance, I hear.
