I currently have a ~SS Halcyon 5lb backplate, but since I am of, ah, larger stature I was looking into purchasing a heavier one. I saw one somewhere that was about 8 lbs but I can't seem to find it now.

Anyone have an idea where I can find somehting like this?

You could always add a channel or v-weight.

Hammerhead Scuba has a nice heavy one and you add the single tank adapter and you're around 11 lbs. - I use this rig and no extra weights (of course I have no body fat) Their website apparently is down (www.hammerheadscuba.com) so maybe have to find them another way, I think they're in Florida!

I have a 12 pounder I may be looking to move soon.

They are in PA, not FL. I was just considering ordering a HH, and now the site is down, or at least I hope it's down rather than them folding up shop!

I'm there for you when you look to move it. I could use a nice heavy plate. And, I have this thing about purchasing new plates :)
