What form of heart disease makes a person not able to dive? coronary artery disease? arrhythmias? What effects will diving have and to what degree is the danger? Thank you.

MoonWrasse:
The risk? Death.
You can go to DAN for more information.

Yep - after that, you can go to our Medical forum and describe your personal aspects, if you'd like.

I think you should be talking to your Cardiologist and not us. Talking to us is like going to 711 for an engine rebuild.

DAN might be some help but they are not the ones with the knowledge of your or your friends, personal medical condition.

Some conditions are fine while others are a total no no. Then there is the severity of a particular condition or combination of conditions.

After you've spoken with your Cardiologist and consulted DAN, you can also ask your doc to call DAN for further discussion if you'd like. These DAN services are free.

I have been a runner and a diver all my life. Six years ago at age 54 I had to have triple coronary artery bypass. I never had a heart attack or other heart damage. I was back running eight weeks after the surgery and diving after one year. I have a stress test every year and can do a fitness level of 19 mets on the test. Dan recommends at least a fitness level of at least 13 mets. Get on the Dan site and copy their recomendation and take them to your doctor to dertermine if you can dive.

Or going to a mechanic for a hotdog ;)
If your not careful you CAN get a BIG weanie from a mechanic. :D If your lucky you might get some Kisses other than Hershey's. :D
