As I say frequently, folks really should research their guiding operation.
If people don't know what they don't know, then they don't know enough to do research to correct their ignorance.

I have seen many of the "voluntary" rules for guiding broken -- ratios too high, no lights, guide not in cave gear and who knows if cave trained. There is money in guiding, but there won't be if people start dying on these tours.

The fact that there aren't many people dying on these tours adds a certain amount of complacency. While I certainly don't advocate any of these practices, they are being used because for the most part they work.
 
I often duck tape my SPG so that I'm not tempted to peek while admiring nature.

If you're gonna do that, just dive without one. Otherwise, you're just adding an extra failure point for no reason. :wink:
 
Wonder if the guide has seen "A Deceptively Easy Way To Die". I'm guessing not.
