Finally decided to get back into diving after not having gotten wet for almost 20 years. Bought all new gear last summer. It is amazing how much the gear has advanced in that time. Blew out a knee, had botched surgery and health took a major downturn. I guess that I will be listing my gear for sale. Really wish I hadn’t pulled the trigger and bought everything at once. I am very sad!

Sorry to hear that.

If you sell, I hope the funds give you a way to find some joy again.

Not sure what your health issues are so this may or may not be a viable option - but there are opportunities and groups for adaptive and disabled diving.

Sorry for your troubles. That much said you will find it difficult to post gear for sale here because believe it or not, there are dishonest individuals out there who make up stories and then attempt to sell non existent dive gear to unsuspecting potential customers who hand over their hard earned funds to a scammer who subsequently disappears with their cash.

Of COURSE you aren't one of them, your sincerity is perfectly clear in your single post that rings truer than the morning sound of songbirds on a high voltage line, and my heart goes out to you, however you need to be aware that there are safeguards in place on this forum to prevent those who are deceitful in their ways, who cannot hold a decent job or are simply too lazy to try, or are the result of bad parenting or childhood traumas that are not necessarily their fault but are no excuse for bad decisions made in adulthood.

I'm sure you understand.

ACL, twice, same knee. Now dealing with a torn minuscus, torn cartlidge, bone spurs, and getting early arthritus in the knee. Still dive, but not as much.

I don't know what they did to your knee or what they screwed up, but knees are well known and generally very fixable. Giving up diving won't fix the knee. Living with that bum knee won't let you do most anything. Go get the knee fixed, correctly. Do the therapy. My knee doctor has stories of people having destroyed knees and got them fixed and running marathons. It can be done. It isn't about diving, it is about have an overall good quality of life. I don't care if you dive or not (but you should), if you just give up and live with a bad knee job it will keep you from doing anything. Go find a good doctor and get it fixed right.

The knee got fixed fine, but unfortunately there was some issues with the anesthesia that caused some neurological damage. I get excited and pass out. We are working with drugs to see if I will at least be able to drive. The lawyers are involved.

I'm having trouble following this.

You received anesthesia during treatment. During the procedure you had some sort of reaction, whereby you got excited and then passed out and as a result there was neurological damage that makes it difficult or impossible to drive?

Dude keep positive and keep your gear as an aid to recovery by concentrating on getting wet again

Had anesthesia during surgery.. they don’t know what happened, but while under, something happened. It wasn’t until several months after the surgery that I had the black out. We have done several mri’s and the neurologist thinks that something had to have happened during the surgery. They have been able to replicate the results a couple times during testing. We are still doing lots of testing and messing with drugs. I don’t understand all of what is going on. All I know is that it sucks.
