I was finally able to dive today! Went out with Narragansett Pier dive shop to Hazard Rock - hmmmm wonder where they got that name?? There were four of us and the entry wasn't too bad...just waited for a wave to come in and pick you off the rock and take you out....

The water is really warm...70 on the surface...I didn't wear a hood! Yay! So we dive straight away from shore, decending over huge boulders and then down a wall....and then the viz goes down to nothin at about 40'. For the first time I felt a wave of anxiety come over me as I struggle to make out my buddy who is a few feet away. I blew through a ton of air real fast during this time...bummer. Finally we swam out of that soup and into the good 10' vis and the rest of the dive was really cool. The boulders and overhangs were amazing. I have not dove...or is it dived...anything like that kind of rock. With walls on either side as you swim through a trench. Saw one huge tautog...others very small....zero lobster (figures) and I think I saw one crab. I'm sure there was more to see, but the viz was pretty poor and the mild surge kept you moving.

Lesson for the day....need to dive more! Air consumption was terrible. Started at 2700 and finished with 200 in 40 min.! max depth 40' Now that I've been in 2' vis, I'll be ready next time....funny how when you don't expect it, it can really freak you out! ;)
