I've been to Hawaii in July as well as March and April. I have dove on Maui and the Big Island many times. I would also suggest the Big Island. Seeing those Mantas on a nite dive is an exceptional experience I will not forget. Some were 12 to 15 foot wingspan and they come within inches of you.
If you go to Maui you must plan to dive off Molokini. In March you can hear whales singing on every dive. There is plenty to see on Molokini's backside as well.
