For the last ten days, I´ve been in playa del Carmen, mexico enjoying the sun and alot of diving. The weather has been a very chilly 85 degrees, and the water temp is about 80 itself, the water visibility is unlimited.

Been able to do many things down here that are usually frowned upon up in the states. For example when diving here , it is very common to go to at least 80 feet on the first dive, whether you´re just a basic open water diver or above. I even did my first 100 foot dive, and actually got a bit narked at first, but as usual being in total control I realized what it was and nothing much happened.

Talk to ya when I get back.

Happy to heard you are having fun down there, could you give me a report of how are things doing after the Hurricane, i was there at the time of Wilma and didn't look pretty, then i left a few days after and no playa, but Cancun was in a very bad shape.

Are you diving Cozumel or just the small reefs around playa? i like Jardines, that is an easy shallow dive for non-advance divers.

have fun and please do not push it to far, i was a resident of that area for many years, and you'll be surprise how many people get hurt or kill in that places and the most pof the time is for the same reason, people pushing the envelope to far, i will recomend you to stay under 85'.

Happy dives

Sure rub it in........
My last dives were October '05 in San Salvador, Bahamas. Same thing, no screwing around, jumped right in to 130+ on a few dives, right on the edge. Awesome diving though. I'll admit I found my narc limit (I mean I really noticed I was narced) on one dive. I agree with Rafael, don't feel you have to keep up with others and push your limits too far. In some respects it's good to push just a little to learn more but know when to pull back.

yeah, you dirty #@*&#, There you are :bandit_2: right here, having a cold one at the Tequila Barrel!

I'll be there in April with the fam, then back to Coz :palmtree: in May with the boyz ;)

What sites have you been diving in PDC? If you haven't dove Tortugas yet, you must become one with the turtles... :turtle: :turtle: :turtle: :turtle:

Enjoy!

Sounds rough...not sure I could handle it :D

I dove at tortugas, barracuda, cocoa beach, cerebal, sebados, tortuga. I did not go over to Cozumel, becuase of the damage done to the piers there. Although I could have gone with the dive ops that I was using( Tankha), because they'll take you over there in one of their own boats.

As far as getting narked some of the others on the boat were talking about that just before we dove at cocoa beach. The depth was about 100 feet, and they wee talking about the symptons and where you should expect them to start. I guess some people can get narked at anywhere's from 80 feet to 100 feet.

I guess some peole can feel abit foolish to the feeling of being anxious. I felt the latter. I'm glad that I did get a little narked, because now I know what to look for when I do more challenging dives such as wreck diving etc.

Hey Stogey,

Are you participating in the peep fest/beach olympxxx? Glad your having a great time and lots of diving. Do you have a dive camera? If so I can't wait to see your pictures. If not I still want to see your land pictures. Have fun.

Right now I use a disposaable camera for my underwater potography. However I am planning on buying one real soon. I just bought a olympus digital camera hoping to get a housing for it. The camera is so new that they have not developed any underwater housings for it yet.

I took a couple of above water pictures a xhal-hal of sea life there and I couldn't believe the difference between the disposable one and my digital So if they don't develop a housing fairly soon I will buy a underwater camera.

No we didn't participate in the olympics because we had left playa on Wednesday. However we were at Mamamitas beach on Tuesay for the beach party then and had a great time.
