A couple of years ago, I was on Cozumel for a near miss by a tropical storm. We didn't get any of the wind and rain, but there was a lot of wave action on the south end of the island. It kicked up a lot of sand, and the current moved it on up the west coast, so when we dove Colombia, the viz was down to about 50 feet. Everyone on the boat was grousing good-naturedly about it after the dive, when one of us remarked at how incredibly spoiled we are to be complaining about what would have been remarkably good viz for a great many dive destinations in the world.
The next day, the viz was back up over 100 feet.

Not sure when you dove Punta Sur with only 20 ft Visibility we dove it in August and it was 100 ft + visibility. Will be going back again in Nov. Cant wait to get back in the water. Kathy in Texas
It wasn't in 2005 that's for sure.
