I found the case today, and Bought it.. Can't wait to get in the water and try it. Someone told me that you should keep the display screen off to prevent moisture. Is this True?

Having the screen on uses battery power which has nothing to do with condensation. But it will also build heat inside the housing and that does promote condensation. The smaller the housing, the faster the moisture will appear. If you'll use dessicant paks, that usually absorbs it and eliminates the problem.

Does anyone know where I can find the case for the s50? Ive been looking on-line and it seems to be back-ordered every where.

I bought mine from http://www.newegg.com/ a few months ago. They have good prices and ship via fedex for free in most cases.

P.S. Just go to the site and do a search for 'DC300' and it should come up.

The dessicant paks are in every purse/bag that my GF buys, they are also in every camera bag that Tamrac sells. Visit the women's department, or your local camera store, they will usually give you all you want!

Thanks For the Tips. I will have to try and find the dessicant paks.

I get mine from HERE. The 2gram size are perfect for housings. I prefer these to the freebies TJ mentioned because 1) I know they are fresh when I put them in my housing and how long to expect them to work and 2) I can rejuvenate and reuse them after a couple hours in a low heat oven.

If you are in any doubt about what a Canon s50 can do have a look at these from mtiffee at http://www.miketiffee.com/diving/belize2004 they are referenced in a post a day or so back "Turtle Pictures from Belize" which has some hints on getting best use of the canon underwater.

The s50 gets very hot with the LCD screen on, hotter than most cameras I've used. That promotes condensation as Dee said. I use the moisture muncher tablets if I can't load the camera in an air conditioned room. I get two dives out of a battery, I also bought a battery from Best Buy, which lasts longer than the canon battery. I just rotate them out each day, the battery charges in like 1 hour, which is awesome. If I use the internal flash a lot or forget to turn off the LCD when I'm done taking pictures, the low battery light will usually come on during my 2nd dives safety stop.

Go and get the housing check on ebay for good deals, good luck.
