Sorry to say this but all the internet divers really missed out on some great diving over the 4th of July weekend. conditions out of Hatteras were good, with seas running 3 to 4 foot.
Saturday we dove the Abrams, mild surface current, and a bit of bottom current, but vis was 80'+, and the bottom temp was a nice 76. second dive was on again on the Abrams, since the conditions were so great we stayed.
Sunday we dove the British Splendour, once again the surface current was very light and almost no current on the bottom. vis was 100' and you could see the wreck as soon as you put your head in the water. second dive was on the Kesheha, this was my first dive on this wreck, but will not be my last. it is rarly dove, and i think there is a lot to find on it. the vis was at least 60' with a bit of bottom current.
Monday found us heading out to dive the Proteus, but reports of high current had us turn and dive the Dixie Arrow instead, and what a great choice it was, vis was easily 100' and very little current we did both dives here, as reports of high current at other sites came in.
Tuesday the Fourth of July we again headed out to dive the Dixie Arrow, conditions were not as great as the day before, but still had 80' of vis, this was one of the few dives where i didn't see any sharks roaming around the wreck.
This was a great four days of diving.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but pull your bottom timmers and computers out of that glass of water on your desk and put it on your arm and get out and dive dive dive. the conditions around Hatteras are great, and this is the best time of year to dive there.
hope to see you on the boat.
