Larry Horne and I dove on Capt. J T's boat the "Under Pressure" last Monday. We were trying for the U-701, but the conditions were un divable when we got there. Ended up diving the Nevada. It was in 75 feet of water, but what surprised me was the vis. It was the worst I had ever seen in Hatteras. In some spots, less than 5 feet. It was a shame, because it was a neat wreck. I am sure there would be plenty of artifact potential. I want to try it again with better conditions. It was cloudy and water temp was about 74 degrees. Air temp was in the 60's.

The best part of the dive was Jt's boat and operation. Highly recommended. We where offered our spots by Doug Newton since he had chartered the boat. we went down the night before and slept on the boat. I must say Capt JT runs a tight ship. Cleanest boat I have ever been on aand was very comfortable to stay on. They know what they are doing. We even watched movies during the long ride out. The seas where pretty rough, but his boat took them with no problem. Jt, his wife, and Doug went out of there way to make the whole trip worth it. I highly recommend his whole operation.:D

WRONG,

Vis was from 6 feet to 6 inches! I lost Gary at least a half dozen times. Viz sucked.

As for the "Under Pressure and Captain JT.................understated! An absolute professional. JT and Nancy run the best boat I've ever seen......As for the seas, "pretty rough" does not describe them at all.......reporte 2 to 4 foot seas......5 to 6 easy............the Under Pressure was perfect, pearcing the waves and pushing on at 13 knots.......................for 3 hours to the U-701......we found her.

Current was in one direction and the wind in the opposite. Impossible to set the anchor line.....they tried.

two hours run back to the Navada.....for you counting thats 5 hours sail.............some were ill by now but I learned alot from JT and the boys (and ladies). AWESOME group and I will definitely try for the 701 again.

I recommend them for charter, regardless of the site. They will make your day enjoyable, even in 5 foot seas! LOL!

Seems like it was pea soup (aka sea poop) up and down the coast.
