Just like any other business, running a dive shop is nowhere near foolproof or simple. I'm interested to learn what dive shops' biggest hassles are and how we can help each other out! This would make the industry more fun and profitable.

Here are some of my biggest inconveniences:
  • Marketing - Determining the best tactics for increasing bookings & purchases
  • Legal & Insurance - Seems to be a jumble without a clear, simple solution
  • Seasonality - High vs Low season with staff, boats, gear, etc

Post up your biggest hassles with running a dive shop. Hopefully, we can help each other find solutions to these issues. That way we all make more money and can have fun doing it!

Customers! Especially those from New Yawk, & New Jersey (Because everything is so much better there. (That's why they can dedicate resources in deciding on the legality of a large coke, instead of disaster preparation in the event of a Hurricane).

Back to customers..... Whiners, cheapskates, know-it-alls, quasi-tech divers, experts, Cops (they seem to think they should get the same deal they get at Dunkin' Donuts).

I know I left out a few.....

Are you talking about the customers or the dive shop owners?

Or select specimens from both groups?

BenK, didn't see you list boat and equipment maintenance, repair and replacement. That's got to be a big time hassle and expense.

This is an amusing discussion, but why in the Florida Diving forum?? Isn't there a professional forum where this would get a lot more feedback?
