wondering if anyone has used the Dacor Xtremelle airtrim womens bcd??? have used the diva but would like a jacket inflate instead of just back inflate, any help would be great.. thanks

I have the Dacor Extremelle and love it. It is prefect for recreational diving. I have a Zeagle Ranger that I use for my more challenging diving but the Extremelle is awesome when it comes to mindless diving (as I like to call it). I especially like the air trim because that button is ALWAYS right where you want it. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the weight integrated pockets. They are velcro and tend to fall off while you're diving - especially if you're rolling over or doing goofy things like summersaults.

would you recommend it for a newbie female?? I have used 16 lbs wt in fresh and 18 in salt, could this jacket handle that?? thanxs Denise

Given his warning abotu the velcro coming out easily, I would say stay away from it.

Also, the future of Dacor is very uncertain. Fewer and fewer shops carry parts for the yearly service. It is my understanding that the few who do have parts have had them for a while and Dacor is no longer sending out parts.

I have the XTremeElle BC and love it. I have had that much weight in the pockets, and never had a problem with the velcro coming loose, let alone the falling off. I have read posts on other boards indicating that the velcro on the weight pockets that were used for the Elle and other BCs can eventually wear out, which explains why the weight pocket could fall out.

Infact, my husband bought himself a new Zeagle BC in April when we got BCs for the kids, I choose not to get a new BC because I still really like my Dacor. I do know that the jacket BC is much easier to dump air from than the back inflate bcs, especially at depth.

If you can find one in good condition, I would definitely consider getting it. Just make sure the velcro is in good condition. Also, I spread my weight out and put some of it in the trim pockets on the back. I usually have 2 lbs in each trim pocket, and the rest in the front weight pockets.

The extremelle BC was manufactured under Mares ownership. This bcd uses the same components and parts as Mares bcd's. There will be no problem getting parts for an Extremelle. As with all bc's made prior to mechanical weight release systems, you must be concientious of the velcro. Eventually it will wear out, you must keep sand and particulate matter out of it, etc. Otherwise there is no problem. If these are issues that concern you, then you will be looking at something more current and of course will cost you more $. The Extremelle as testified by the two previous posts, is a great bcd, will work perfectly, and if purchased new from an authorized dealer is going to come w/ a 2 year warranty.

Happy Diving,

Zak.

That is good to know about parts still being available, because as previously stated, I have not been able to find a new BC that I like as well as my Xtremelle and I was worried about needing to eventually get a new one.

What about the Nautica WD? My husband wanted to get a smaller cumberbun, and was told by the LDS that those were no longer available. He ended up buying the Zeagle only because he was able to get it to fit better than his Dacor, but if he could get a smaller cumberbun for the Nautica, he would prefer to wear it, especially for doing photography as it allows you to trim better with a jacket style. Are parts available for that BC too?

jin,
I'm rushing to catch a plane. Will respond either later today or tomorrow.
