I was checking out the rondale site and found info on different types of weight belts.
Typicaly I use a neoprean soft weight belt, but with 30 plus pounds of weight I'm looking for a new way to carry it. Has anyone tried these types of weight belt or harneses. If so how do you like them?

I haven't checked out the gear review to see if the weight harnesses I have were mentioned (Northern Diver & Poseidon).
I tend to favor the Poseidon because of the longer shoulder straps (ND needs another foot or two of shoulder strap length).
Poseidon uses a ripcord style attachment as compared to velcro only.

The weights with the back strap harness look great I know my tool belt has suspenders attached and did it ever help my lower back out.

I have the DUI they reviewed. It is every bit as good as they say it is. You really forget you have your weight on walking around the boat. I like it very much. It also goes with my BP and wing MUCH better than a weight belt (for me anyway). I have it ride just below my harness belt. It is very adjustable.

These belts look like a good idea. My concern is: can you find the dump handle [or whatever it's called] easily? The thought of having a weight belt on and either not being able to find the handles or having my buddy not be able to find them gives me the willies. Also, how hard is to dump your weights?of

Not finding the weight handles is definitely not a problem. Unless you are color blind, and are not able to see LARGE hoop type objects... :D

Actually the hoop pull handles are one of the potential downsides to the harness. Some feel they are TOO easily found. Some feel the yellow pull handles could be a snag hazard.

DUI's website has a link to the harness. The weight drop works with a "lanyard" type attachment for safety. To help avoid accidental weight release. Not held in place with only velcro.

I have the DUI Wings, which when you get right down to it, it's the weight harness with a bladder. I love the way it feels on land, but, the big yellow hoops did worry me at first.
I love going thru the kelp beds and was very concious of them snagging. But I can say, I've had it for almost 2 years and have never gotten snagged on anything, not even my console or octo.

I found a second hand weight harness for sale and will probably buy it :) How lucky is that considering my LDS doesn't have any.

Andy's also makes a weight harness but I haven't seen it yet. The Baltimore dive store that stocks other Andy's stuff didn't have one available. I want to see it and compare to DUI's because I want a simple one without the quick-release.

I am new to diving and a really big guy...when your my size and have no hips, weight belts don't stay up well...Local LDS had a harness from amer-sea...pockets are big and work just like a integrated BC...Works great! I don't even know it's on..dumping is easy and if needed has quick releases at both shoulders and waist (not as quick as one buckle but could be done):)
