I have a Diverite harness with an aluminum plate and a s38 wing.
I want to switch plates to the SS i just purchased.

Should I just get another harness and switch wings (Will probably use the SS exclusively)

Also it it relatively easy to do or should I take it to the LDS to have them do it and what can I expect to pay?
Thanks
Great forum
PS The price of getting a second harness is not a problem.
As I already have an another ss plate myself or someone will have to rig it.
Also how hard is it to switch wings from plate to plate.

Buy another set of harness and hardware. Hardware piece is cheap, just 2 buckles, 5 rings, 7 triglides. Add another d-ring and triglide if you want right hip dring, and 20ft of webbing. Total maybe $35. This is including crotch strap. Check out divegearexpress.com

Since you already have AL plate set up, just follow it and rig it yourself. It will take less than 10 minutes. Even if you have dive shop to rig it, you will still need to do adjustment yourself later.

Switching wing from plate to plate is easy.

Agreed. Get the harness and hardware and do it yourself. First, it is always good to have your other plate ready to go, for pool, or warm water vacations, or ???. Plus this gives you a great opportunity to learn your own rig. With the AL plate and harness still fully assembled, you have a guide to go by to assemble your new SS plate.

Any particular Harness?
The wing and SS BP are Hollis.
Hog? Diverite? Or with a basic set up they are all the same. Cargo straps, rinds and buckles?

If it is a DIR type harness, like the Diverite basic, any harness will work fine. If you have a Diverite Transplate style harness and want to keep the same config, then you would need to get the Diverite. If it was me, I would use a HOG harness.....because I have so many in stock. LOL

Any harness webbing. Webbing is cheap. Put the Al plate aside for vacation, save 4 pounds of luggage. LDS should have your gear, or DiveGearExpress has all the hardware and webbing you need for low price.

Do this! get 12' of webbing and get the rest from Divegearexpress. I just bought some extra bent d-rings. $4 each from some shops, Divegearexpress.....$.75 each. Its a no-brainer.

I just bought my second harness set up from dive gear express. Everything including the crotch strap cost about 25 bucks. :-)

I've got a DiveRite Transplate harness. DiveRite has videos online showing how to rig everything up and adjust it. If you go for DIR style continuous webbing, there are also videos online showing how to rig

I'm looking at lighter backplates for when we go to Palau later this year. I figured I would just set up new harnesses on the new backplates, rather than trying to move harnesses back and forth. Much easier to keep things set up the way you like that way. My wife's stainless steel backplate with a 3 mm full suit and Al80 tank makes her overweighted without any additional lead, which is bad
