First, I'd like to ask the moderators to keep an eye on this thread if they would be so kind. I would ask that any flamers have thier response removed.

I am transitioning from the Transplate harness to a single strap harness. What I am looking for is information in the following areas:

1. How is the "cross over" installation performed?
2. What is the benefit of this type of installation versus the standard?
3. How do I know when I have set the shoulder straps correctly? (Remember, I am moving from an adjustable harness to one that is not adjustable.)

I tried to ask these questions of my mentor last night but got some kind smartass response about color, so, I figured I would ask for the wisdom of those knowledgeable here on the board. Yes, even the DIR folks are welcome to answer this one, just no flaming please.

Thanks

Brian

1,3)Cross over the top right to the bottom left, top left to bottom right.... set an even amount of webbing (there's plenty) on each side, put the webbing thru the lower slots in the BP and put it on. Tighten the straps until you can reach back and touch the top of the plate.
2) Makes for a smoother transistion over the shoulders, see if you like it, you can always change it to standard routing.

enjoy.
