Harness and Wing inflator

I'm moving over to a true BP/W setup with a one piece harness. My question is about the inflator/deflator for the wing. How do you attach it to the harness? GUE's web site said bungee it to the harness, but didn't really explain how or provide a picture.

The inflator hoses pass over the left shoulder and runs down the left shoulder strap. I use a velcro loop around both. This loop is at about your collar bone.

A piece of bungie at the same location should be fine.


Some wings include a piece of fabric that wraps around the shoulder strap and the hoses similar to a shoulder strap pad.

This works ok also, but IMHO it's mostly to provide a location for the wing's logo

Bottom line is some simple, removable means of securing the hoses to the shoulder strap at about the collar bone.

My MC system came with a bungie loop that was routed around the harness on the left side and secured with the keeper for the left d-ring. You can kinda see it in these pictures:

i think 100 for a couple of bucks
zip tie it to the d ring

I prefer to use a loop cut from a bicycle innertube. It is low profile and wide enough to stay in place where ever I put it.

Another critical issue is hose lenght. Some wings come with corrogated hoses that are really longer than you need and the inflator consequently dangles.

If you only route the LP hose and not the whole corigated inflator though the bungee it is just as secure and you can dump with it more easily.

So when putting on the reg, the LP Inflator goes:

- Down to first elastic on corrigated hose
- Though elastic
- Though bungee on webbing, only LP hose, not corrigated
- Thought second elastic on corrigated hose
- Into inflator

What kind of wing did you get? Mine is the Oxycheq, and the hose is short - but just long enough.
IMHO, the third pic in James Goddard's post is just right.

I've been finding my inflator hose occasionally flips behing my wing, so something like that would certainly help keep it in place, but does it provide enough room to raise the corrugated hose vertical enough to properly dump air? I would presume so if it is being used in this way.

If I'm horizontal I ususally use the rear dump, but yes you can get it nice and vertical this way. The bungie is pretty high, right at your collarbone if the D-ring is in the proper place and the bungie has some stretch to it.

I've got some scrap surgical tubing. Is this good enough material to use as a bungee? I can secure it in the keeper with the left D-ring.
