I want to share my airline experiences with my Storm carry-on hard case during my last trip to the Philippines and Okinawa.
I carried a black Storm Im2500 case which contained my underwater camera equipment and my laptop.
Every airport, with the exception of my initial departure from Maui on Hawaiian Airlines, weighed my carry-on back pack and Storm case. Each airline had different carry-on weight limits. This is the first time I have had my carry-on bags weighed.
My Storm case was overweight at all the airports. I knew that going in to this trip but have never had my carry-on weighed on prior trips.
My Im2500, with wheels, weighs 12.7 pounds empty.
My Im2400, without wheels, weighs 6.5 pounds empty.
I know a lot of the attention my Storm case got was due to its appearance. It stands out like a sore thumb compared to the sea of soft generic looking carry-on bags everyone else carries.
NO MORE HARD CASES FOR ME.
Every kilo counts on the airlines. From now on I will carry my camera gear in a small, lightest I can find, inconspicious looking soft case and pad it with bubble wrap.
