The weathers abysmal and I figured you might need a pick me up to get excited about the dive season. The boat went in the water April 25 and I was told there were a lot of harbor seals out by Hungry Point (just west of East Harbor) on Fishers Island. So I took a run out and there WERE many more than usual for this time of year. I just couldn't resist getting in the water with them........

Thanks for sharing that! It is always amazing how gracefully and effortlessly they move in the water compared to when they are flopping around on land.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. If anyone has any constructive criticism as to what worked or didn't work for you I'd be happy to hear it.

im curious what you took on scuba and what with the rebreather?

What kind of camera? Im interested in getting into video, tried the photo thing and I dont have a huge amount of patience for getting shots. I would love to have camera to document my dives, im not terribly concerned with the quality.

Let's see .... for underwater shots:

Open Circuit = Zero %
Rebreather = 100%

The only shots used in the video from the day I went out on OC were the last two surface shots just before the underwater section of the video. The OC gear was just to loud and they didn't want to have anything to do with me. On the RB they were still very aware I was there and cautious. 80% of the time they'd just fly by a good distance away, but 20% of the time they'd come in close. I was in the water sixty-five minutes and edited it down to maybe six or seven minutes of UW video.

What kind of camera?

The Harbor Seal video was my first try with "a new to me" Sony TRV900 in a "a new to me" Top Dawg housing with a wide angle dome lens. All my video's prior to this were with the same housing but I was using a Sony TRV740. The 900 is a three chip camera and the 740 is a single chip. The three chip is supposed to be better with color but the single chip is supposed to have better low light response. I like to use available light so we'll see how the 900 does in deeper clear water.

I'm going to post a higher rez WMV or AVI of the video and I'll post a link here.

Best regards,
Mark
