Anybody order from Hammerhead recently? Hammerhead Scuba - Hammerhead II Backplate I'm wanting to get a heavier STA in preparation for drysuit diving. The HH STA is just about right at 5lb 3oz compared to my STA at 1lb 2oz to give me the extra weight I want. The alternative is a V-weight like XS Scuba "V" Weight Pouch (WB550)

Wondering if HH is still delivering, and what is the quality of the finish like?

Thanks

I just got off the phone with Ed the owner of Hammerhead, and they are very much in business and producing plates. He said their website got hacked back in mid-November and some orders may have been lost, as was mine.

So looks like I'll be getting the HH STA shortly.

I'm glad HH is still making plates and STA's. I have two of their SS plates, and 1 each of their "warm water" and "cold water" STA's.

On the STA's you may need to do a little "finish" work to smooth the edges. Well worth the effort however.

Best wishes.

Half inch strips of fabric backed 200 or 150 paper after filing.
And when it starts to break down it polishes nice and fits in the ends of the slots for stainless.

Received my HH STA today and very impressed with the design and quality. Weight came in at just under 6lbs so that'll reduce my weight belt to around 10lbs with the drysuit. The finish on the STA will require very little work, just some minor polishing in the webbing slots.

Overall I'm very impressed with Hammerhead if this STA is any indication of the quality of their other products. Hammerhead Scuba - Hammerhead II Backplate

I'm glad everything worked out with your Hammerhead gear. Like I mentioned previously, I'm very pleased with the two backplates and STA's we have.

My backplate and STA needed just a tiny bit of smoothing .... but my wife's backplate was "perfect", no sharp edges.

Great stuff at a great price.

Best wishes.
