I was there in 2019… the diving was very nice with superb viz and nice corals/sponges.. but in my opinion not enough to justify the annoying trip to get there… 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yes it is definitely for those who want to get off the beaten path. For us it was easy since we were on a liveaboard. I loved Una Una and Pasir Laut. But didn't love the Togeans and could skip parts of Gorontalo. Our May trip started with an easy flight into Gorontalo where we boarded the liveaboard then to Una Una and ended four weeks later in Raja Ampat. It was amazing since we only saw one other boat and we had all of Misool to ourselves with phenomenal weather. I have been to so many dive destinations in Indonesia that I actively search out new places that I haven't been to and it definitely ticked the box for me. We did the northern part of Halmahera for the eclipse in 2016 and the macro there was amazing as well.
