When I first checked out Halibut point, I didn't realize they had a quarry. (Babson Farm Quarry)

Is this worth diving? Has anyone ever attempted dive it to check it out? Park rules say no quarry swimming. (non-issue for diving off season?) It's supposedly 60 feet deep at deepest point. Would be nice to do one dive in ocean and then 2nd in quarry and no need to rinse your gear!

I see you do one dive in ocean and then 2nd in quarry and no need to rinse your gear!?

just curious as to depth.. For those days you get to Cape ann, nothing divable but you just have to get in so you do the quarry..

Yeah, I saw that thing, but I never dove it. I was wondering if it's deep enough to jump in from the cliff. That would be the coolest thing. I used to do that all the time when I was in my teens.

There is another quarry on cape ann. I see it from road along 127. As driving north (ocean to left), quarry is to right. I can't remember exactly where.. Just after plum cove.. After Lanes, before folly. No real place to park

Was always wondering about that one also

There are lots of no swimming signs at the Halibut Point Quarry. That doesn't mean people don't do it, especially in the off season.

The best quarry is called Steel Derick and is in the woods of Rockport heading into dogtown. It is private (members only club) but pretty large and very deep (don't know exact depth). It's a long walk from any parking if you don't have the key to the gate. I was suppose to go with a member in September but never made it. There is another quarry nearby that is not quite as large but someone appears to live at it.

As for the quarry you see off 127 it's in Lanesville but it doesn't look big enough to really explore. I don't know its name.
