I am from the UK were Halcyon is little known to most divers. I especially like the look of there bungee free wings.

However could some of the more experienced members give me there opinion as to its quality (Craftmenship/build quality and materials)

You could very well be right. I haven't even seen a set yet. I've heard only good reviews, but I can't personnally attest to the design of the new wings. What don't you like about them? I hope Halcyon maintains its reputation for exceptional quality and customer service.

I too am interested in the new Halcyon wings. I was planning on purchasing them as soon as I saved up some cash. What don't you like about them? I am begining to hear mixed reviews about them. I can only hope they are as good of quality as the rest of their equipment.

The new-style Halcyon wings have a built-in STA consists of a pair of embedded rods an inch apart. Outboard of those, a pair of cam straps is meant to go through the wing and through slots in the backplate. No vertical adjustability; there's only the one set of holes. There are raw, unsealed edges where the straps thread through the wing, $338, up from $288 last year. This amounts to a softpak and the tank is going to float around diagonally, no question. I am not interested in ever owning a set. Here are some half-assed pictures:

I have a pair of the new wings with about 35 - 40 dives on them and have had no problems with them. Indeed they have better bouyancy characteristics than the old wings when used with the old high profile STA due to the tank being that much closer to one's back and the same characteristics as the low profile STA. I've had no problems with regard to the security of the tank attachment. It has so far proved to be just as bomber as with an STA. I can't speak to the duribility(sp?) of holes for the straps but after talking to both my dealer and Halycon I was convinced that should I have any trouble that Halcyon would stand behind their product. Anyway, I don't think those holes have much if any real stress applied to them and that stress is no where near the amount it would take to damage the material used in the wings.

Thats my take for what its worth. But only time will tell.

Thanks for the information on Halcyon. I have heard of the brand but never seen anyone wearing the gear. Looks like its top notch from what i can see so far, but i could be wrong.

does anyone know where in the UK i can buy Halcyon products from? This would be great if someone could tell me
