I did a search so dont flame me. Couldnt find the right answer.:)

I bought a pair of XL spring straps. Dive shop guy was sure they would fit. I wear a size 13 street shoe.

Now here are the fins I have. Bought these in 1986 and they are as good as the day I bought them. They are Oceanic Jet Fins. They look exactly like ScubaPro Jet fins. They even have the row of circular "?divots?". I dont know if the same manufacturer made them for both companies or what. I looked up Oceanic's website and I guess they dont carry/make them anymore.

I wondered if the attachment point was different, but they look the same.

I installed the straps and they just BARELY strech when on my foot. They can go back almost thier whole range of motion. They feel good on dry land, but I wonder at depth if they will still fit. I tried them on with a wetsuit bootie.

They should feel snug, and not a lot of foot movement. If they are too long you should be able to shorten them fairly easily. Not sure of the design for attaching them.

Best solution is to go for an easy dive.

If you can get them apart you can obviuosly cut the spring or just bend over a couple of rings on each end.

I make my own and am always playing around with different systems.

Don't foret to tie some cave line through the spring to prevent over stretch if they don't already have it.

We are sometimes that bad around here, huh. Too funny.

I have opposie problem - my feet are so tiny the spring strap esseitally streches straight across the foot pocket!

The should be snug, but not kill circulation.

Throw them on, watch West Wing or Friends or something and see if you get blue toes. It everything is OK, they're probably fine.

Wetsuit booties, although they are neoprene, won't compress that significantly... I mean, even a 7mm bootie is 1/4". How much can it compress? Probably lsomewhat less than 1/4 inch.

Ohhh they dont hurt at all. What I mean is there is essentially almost no work being done by the spring. It is just barely being pulled on. It has almost all of its range of motion left. Im wondering if I need the next size smaller?

This is the only bummer about mail order. Having to ship it back for a different size.

Yeah - you need a size smaller. They're the Halcyons? So you can't jist cut them down a bit, huh? Never examined one up close. Maybe they can be cut and the fastener just re-assembled over the spring again.

Someone will chime in, on that I'm sure.

If they read this more thoroughly than I did :bonk:
